State Hearse carrying the coffin made its way through rainy London streets, as crowds of mourners lined up to pay their respects.
Earlier in the day, crowds filled Scotland’s capital toPersonally.
Hundreds of thousands are expected to wait for hours for a chance to see the Queen’s coffin later this week as it is located in Westminster Hall.
The coffin was earlier removed from St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, after it was carried in a solemn procession through the Scottish capital to appease the crowds.
At the airport, as the Royal Scottish Regiment looked on, dressed in ceremonial skirts, a group of RAF carriers slowly carried the coffin onto the plane.
TheIt was played as the plane moved to the runway and the Queen, who died at her beloved home of Balmoral in the Highlands last week at the age of 96, left Scotland for the last time.
The late king will be brought first to Buckingham Palace for a night before being taken to Westminster Hall on Wednesday, where some well-wishers queued for 24 hours to bid farewell to Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.
Two women, Grace and Vanessa, said they had already taken their place in line, and had waited all night to pay their respects a whole day before the Queen’s coffin arrived in Westminster.
“This morning we went to the actual rehearsal for Her Majesty’s coffin going into Westminster Hall. It was heartbreaking, to celebrate the occasion,” Grace told the BBC. “I think the whole nation would be sad and a flood of tears. We were.”
“This is how we want to respect the Queen, who has done such a great service to the country, the Commonwealth and the world,” Vanessa said.
The coffin will be transported by eagle to Buckingham Palace in the heart of the capital. On Wednesday, the Queen’s coffin will be carried in a procession a short distance from the palace to Westminster Hall, where the late Queen will remain in her state until her state funeral on Monday.
King Charles III, along with his wife Camilla, consort of the Queen, were visiting Belfast, Northern Ireland, on Tuesday. They will meet politicians and religious leaders and attend mass at St Anne’s Cathedral before returning to London later in the day.
